The “Vasa Zivkovic” Elementary School is the oldest school in Pancevo. It was founded way back in 1878. It had, and it still has, a significant role in spreading the cultural and educational mission. It was the beacon of knowledge which attracted the young ones. During all these years they leave our school, enriched with knowledge, in order to spread the education, culture, new views and criticisms.
During the 19th century the location of the school was changed several times, although it stayed for the longest period in the church yards of both the Transfiguration Church and the Assumption Church as well. The present building in Karadjordjeva Street was built in 1912. During the WW II occupation it was used by the German police and the German army.
